OUR TEACHER

Shantiji migrated to Australia in 1972 and established the Shanti Niketan Yoga and Health Centres in Melbourne. In 1995 Shanti relocated to the Gold Coast and established The Shanti Yoga™ Meditation Institute where she currently lives and teaches a community of formal students and casual visitors.


Shanti Gowans’ teachings and practices appeal to people from various religious, spiritual, and social backgrounds.
Shantiji’s prolific program and seminar development, training and implementation in mind body and emotional healing, and spirituality have contributed a significant body of work that incorporate the Vedas to social transformation and transpersonal psychology.

Having authored more that 100 papers and 20 books on various dimensions of spiritual and yogic life, Shantiji continues to transform our understanding of the way the world views physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social wellness. As spiritual head, founder and Director of Education of The Meditation Institute, which offers training programs in mind-body wellbeing, Shantiji is dedicated to transformation and catalyzing the evolution of the prevailing healthcare system to a ‘healing system’ and directs a comprehensive curriculum that includes on-site seminars and workshops, in addition to a worldwide educational outreach program.

Internationally sought after as an inspirational speaker with global and cosmic perspectives, her profound teachings although vast and subtle, are incomparably direct and revolutionary in their impact. Shanti Gowans has been instrumental in forging a new model of wholeness that integrates body, mind and spirit.


Through her creation of Nirvana, the Shanti Yoga Meditation Retreat for Wellbeing, healing and happiness in Queensland, Shantiji has established a formal vehicle for the expansion of her healing approach using the integration of the best of western knowledge with natural healing traditions.
