Continuing Professional Development CPD
1 hour = 1 CPD point
PURPOSE OF CPD
The purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is to give all
yoga teachers the opportunity to update their skills and knowledge. As
developments in all areas of health are rapidly expanding, a CPD program
is regarded as desirable in order for yoga teachers to deliver the best
Shanti Yoga service.
STANDARD GUIDELINES FOR CPD
The process is formalised by committing to do an agreed number of hours
in a year, which are recorded and sent to your member organisation (SYTA)
yearly.
CPD may be accomplished in a flexible manner which allows for study to
be undertaken with respect to an individual's needs and abilities. Further
training can come from:
i. Attending self directed/group study: classes (plus your own practice)
courses, teaching, research, independent learning packages, seminars,
work-shops, SYTA programs, peer review meetings
ii. Institution based study: any suitable course offered by an Institution
with formal assessment procedures.
CPD POLICY
The CPD policy is for the benefit of all members and for the betterment
of yoga teaching.
All teaching members must complete the Shanti Yoga Teachers Association
(SYTA)
Continuing Professional Development Program of fifty(50) credit points
per annum, of which
- forty (40) points are specific to further yoga study, and
- ten (10) points are for personal development which assists in professionalism.
To ensure quality CPD, The Institute is active in communicating about
yoga, and regularly conducts its own seminars, sometimes in collaboration
with other providers of quality professional education.
New course offerings appear each year, and we recommend that you keep
updated on these developments. Please stay in touch! More and more meaningful
education is taking place outside the confines of traditional academic
institutions, and we hope that our work in wholistic education helps create
new life strategies for the public, and at the same time
offers new approaches to self-sufficiency in the growing field of mind-body
health and natural living.
Shanti Yoga teachers are amongst the most professionally sought-after
in the field.
